General Pricing

Many factors affect the cost of design services. Project scope is the main factor and can be for a one-time job or for ongoing design and print services. The experience of the designer is another factor. The general pricing below for varying design services is not set in stone and is intended as a general price guideline.

NOTE:

The prices below are a guide only and can go up or down depending on project scope and number of changes/revisions requested by the client.
A 50% deposit on all projects is required before any work will begin. Rest of balance is due before final files will be provided.
After a company/person is vetted, all payments are processed through PayPal (can use credit cards as a guest in PayPal).
For regular clients you can request to be billed a monthly retainer.

PRINT DESIGN PRICING

Flat Rate vs. Hourly Billing

Many designers charge by the hour while others charge a flat rate. Still other designers use a combination of both. This is the option I use.

Hourly Rate

I charge $25 per hour for print design work, with a minimum charge of 1 hour.

Ads – Magazine or Newspapers

Book Cover Design and Page set-up for Publication

Includes the following – color or b/w:
• 2 sample cover designs – front, back and spine with unlimited publications rights on final artwork
• set-up of final edited Word doc file and save as a pdf for publisher
• Provide client with printing file to submit to publisher
• Client provides final edited Word doc file that includes images (if any)
• Upon request can submit printing file to publisher (will need to pay for printing before hand)

Large Format, Trade Show and Traditional Signage

Includes the following:

Branding Style Guide Development

A brand style guide is the primary visual DNA of your company’s branding, it’s a document that describes, defines and presents examples of what your brand looks like in various visual media such as print, internet and broadcast keeping your brand consistent across all platforms which ensures trust, loyalty and confidence among your client/customers.
Includes the following:
• Defines correct logo usage
• Defines which fonts to use
• Defines correct tagline and text usage
• Defines correct graphics
Time to design: 6 to 16 hours depending on complexity and amount of changes

WEB DESIGN PRICING

Help with your “Do it yourself” site | $50 per hour

With advances in business models, content management systems, and software there are now some amazing FREE online tools some include Wix.com, SquareSpace.com, WordPress.org among many. These tools are amazing.

However, it’s important to note – these tools can be complicated for some and the (general) public may not be comfortable learning and using these free online tools.

Similar to the above – these sites are highly configurable, but still require some coding, graphic design, and other knowledge to pull out of them a custom, attractive look. These are still excellent resources and I’d recommend these services for any business looking to do it themselves.

Should you need help creating one of these free online “Do It Yourself” sites (Wix.com, SquareSpace.com, WordPress.org) or help with an existing one don’t hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to help you or find you help. My rate for this type of web work is $50 per hour.

Basic Website | 5 to 10 pages | $500 – $2,500

For Small Businesses and Individuals

A basic designed website, acts primarily as an online brochure, establishing a necessary presence online to answer your customers’ questions “do you exist?”, “are you professional?” and “what do you do?” A basic website can be created in the $500 – $2,500 range. This website may or may not allow you to interact in a 2-way conversation with your audience (social networking, blog), transact business directly through your site (ecommerce), or enable you to manipulate and update the pages and content within your site without hiring a web programmer/designer to do it for you (Content Management System does enable this for more $$$).

A basic website site will serve to help brand and market your company, showcase your products and services and inspire sales as a lead generating tool. The design of your website will, most likely, be templated at such low costs. This means that your site probably mirrors that of other sites on the web. These sites will be responsive using the latest standards to allow your site to look the same on nearly every computer/device.

NOTE: After your site is created, tested and approved any future updates, changes and bug issues will cost extra as these are separate services outside of initial site creation. For troubleshooting issues (like site is down) I will refer you to GoDaddy support.

Advanced Website | 10 or more pages | $2,500 – $6,000

For Medium Sized Businesses

Depending on the level of aesthetic design that is requested as well as additional features Content Management System (CMS) websites will run at a on average around $2,500 to $5,750. These websites are created with both functionality and design in mind, as you will receive both custom art design and the ability to manage and update all content, images, and text contained within the pages of your site (infinite number of pages possible). With a CMS capable website, your site will have endless possibilities.

These websites are built with the idea that you will have a significant number of changes, additions or updates to be made to your site in the near future. Instead of being charged hourly rates to make such changes, a CMS system enables you to do a majority of the basic additions without prior coding or web designing knowledge. Social interactivity with your site visitors is possible with a site of this caliber, as a BLOG will be present within your site enabling you to place posts of content that you believe is relevant and desired by your audience. Your audience can choose to respond to your blog posts and each others comments allowing for 2 dimensional interactions between you, your audience, and within your audience. This will require a dedicated person in your company to handle this interaction with your clients/customers.

Some ecommerce and real estate listing sites can be created within this price range depending upon level of functionality and design. Also, sites of this caliber have varying prices with regard to design elements. These sites do have custom design work, but more expensive elements like Flash (animated) Art creation will affect pricing. These sites will be CSS and XHTML Coded to allow your site to look the same on nearly every computer and will also be Search Engine Optimized (SEO) for greater natural search engine ranking success. Also, web analytics are provided with every site we build to track and ensure your web success.

Monthly Website Support | $50 – $300

After I create or redesign your website; I can help with minor edits/changes to your site, smooth upgrades/maintenance, and loading optimization.
