GENERAL QUESTIONS

What does "Design for the spiritually minded" mean?

It means that I specialize in designing for individuals, businesses or organizations that have some sort of spiritual aspect to their business. A yoga studio, spiritual center, reiki healers, spa, massage therapist, mediation center,¬†naturopathic doctor, churches, artist, musicians and many more like this are all the types of businesses I design for. You get the picture. ūüėČ

What if I'm not "spiritually minded", will you still design for me?

It’s not my preference designing for people or a business that is strictly focused on sales and making money. However, feel free to contact me about your project if you like my design style.

Where is your office located at?

I actually work from home in Sedona, AZ. If you live in the area and would like to schedule a face-to-face meeting that can certainly be arranged. Request a consultation here.

Do you provide writing services?

Unfortunately, I am not a professional writer. However, I can write headlines, subheads and taglines.

I can also recommend some online resources. Give contentwriters.com a try.

Do you do the printing?

No, I do not provide printing services directly. I can recommend reputable online and local printers at your request. It is far more expedient for proofing and more cost-effective and faster for shipping if you deal with a local printer. I can act as an intermediary with your printer, or simply provide you with the final files to take to your printer. Printing is typically not included in any of my project quotations.

However, upon request I do have a trade printer I work with online and would be happy to get a printing quote for you and submit your project files under my account.

What software do you use?

I use Adobe Creative Suite software as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excell & PowerPoint). I use Godaddy as my preferred hosting provider and WordPress, as my preferred web design platform.

Can I submit my project over the Internet?

Yes, there are no geographic obstacles to working together, thanks to the internet and telecommunications. Your project requirements can be submitted by contact form, email or phone. Once I have looked over your project needs, the provided information is used to create your designs. Intermediate design concepts and revisions are either posted to Dropbox or emailed to you for your review, comments and approval. Once your design is completed, final files are either posted for your download, uploaded to you or your printer or sent to you via CD.

How do I get started with my project?

As a very broad generalization, my design process follows the following steps:

  1. Complete my consultation/quote form to submit your project specifics to me.
  2. I will be in touch to conduct more thorough creative research about you, your company/product/service and your design tastes and requirements.
  3. After your consultation, I will provide you with a design brief, contract and a price quote for your project.
  4. If we both agree to proceed with the project and you have accepted the design brief, contract and price quote, I will send you an invoice for a 50% deposit.
  5. After deposit payment is received and armed with your creative input, I will provide you some general designs within 5-10 business days for your feedback.
  6. You will provide feedback/comments about the first round of design concepts.
  7. There is a series of design/feedback/redesign/feedback cycles as your comments and changes are integrated into a more refined design.
  8. Once you have approved a final design, I prepare and invoice for final payment.
  9. You provide payment within 15 days.
  10. I prepare the final files for delivery. This takes anywhere from 2-48 hours.
  11. Final files are delivered to you.

Time frames are generalized, and can be adjusted to match your schedule.

What happens when I complete your consultation or quote form?

After completing the Request for Consultation or quote form, the information is sent to me.

Within 24-48 hours, I will either be in touch to clarify your requirements and/or
send you a written quotation for your design project. Or I will be in touch to schedule a phone or in-person consultation.

Feel free to ask questions, clarify points, or make additional requests.

For Quotes: Should you accept the quotation, you will notify me and I will then request a deposit. After payment, I will begin work on your project.

PRICING QUESTIONS

How much do you charge?

I wish there was a straight answer to this, however design services are not so easily quantifiable as requirements vary for each and every project.

I have two types of billing depending on your design job:
a) Flat Rate – per-project price, pre-determined at the start of the project or
b) Hourly rated – billed according to the time utilized. Clients are updated regularly on their project by my time-log and status reports. My current rate is $25 per hour for print and brand design work, $35 per hour for web design work, with a minimum charge of 1 hour.

I offer a FREE, no-obligation quotation process, to help define the scope and specifications for each project. I am flexible and usually can work within almost any budget constraints you may have. Any changes and adjustments are made and agreed upon by both sides before embarking on any work.

How much do you charge to design a website?

Websites can cost anywhere from $500 for a VERY simple site to $5000. It all depends on your wants and needs.

Can a small company afford your services?

Many of my clients are small companies, non-profit organizations and individuals. By “farming out” their design projects, they save themselves time and frustration, and save the expense of keeping someone on staff to do design tasks. I am flexible and can work with almost any budget constraints you may be facing.

Do you do small projects?

Yes! I am happy to work on small projects; anything from designing a basic business card to altering a graphic or logo. Smaller projects are often hourly rated.

Should I just look for the best price?

With the advent of easy-to-use, do-it-yourself graphics software, it is relatively simple for anyone to create a functional logo or adequate web site. This also explains why there are so many badly designed graphics out there; if someone has a paintbrush, it doesn’t make them Rembrandt.

It’s not just about the price, it’s also about originality in design and concept, variety of options, mastery of the software and successful and ontime delivery to the specifications of your printer. Many who opt for the lowest price often discover they get what they pay for. I have many items to produce, can we arrange for a monthly retainer fee for you to create everything for us?

I have a number of clients who have retained my services on a longer term basis or for ongoing work. By paying a flat monthly retainer fee (with a 3 month minimum contract term) I can act as your fulltime, in-house design department, handling as many projects as your schedule and mine can squeeze into the retainer period. For clients who have larger, more involved projects or require multiple pieces created this can often be a more economical method compared to getting each item separately quoted and created.

DESIGN QUESTIONS

How long before I see my first designs?

After a 50% deposit payment is made and depending on the type of project or design requirements, you should see initial design concepts anywhere from 24 hours to 5 business days after the start of the design process.

How will I see my designs?

I am flexible and can send you your intermediate design concepts in a number of ways:
– via email as attached files (jpg, PDF)
– posted to Dropbox and I will provide you with a URL to see your design
– printed and sent via traditional post

How many changes may I ask for my design?

I like to keep rounds of changes to two to keep to my clients budgets and due dates. However, as long as your due date and budget allows for multiple rounds of changes, I am happy to alter the intermediate designs until I arrive at a finished design you are completely happy with.

Keep in mind that designers are paid for their time so more changes means your cost go up and your project will take longer to complete.

How long does it take for a design to be completed?

Depending on the type of project, design requirements, a typical project can take a little as 24 hours or extend for weeks or longer for complete web site designs.

How do you deliver my final files? file types?

Once your design is completed and final payment is made, I can deliver your final files:
– via email as an attachment
– upload to Dropbox for you to download
– upload to your Web site via ftp
– save files onto a CD or USB flash drive and deliver via regular post or courier

Deliverable file types include jpeg, tiff, psd, png, eps, ai, indd and pdf.

Can you create files I can edit and print with my computer?

Certainly, if your computer has Adobe Creative Suite software such as Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign.

Why does the color look different when I print my proof?

There is a difference between how your monitor displays colors on screen, and how your personal printer prints and how a printer’s press prints. I match your logos RGB colors with Pantone colors for your printed stationery. Pantone colors may appear different on screen because I match them on the Pantone chart as it will appear when it gets printed. You will also be provided with a version of your logo in RGB colors as well. To simulate how the final color will accurately look coming off a press you will have to calibrate your printer with the screen.

Do you keep my designs on file?

For a period of 6 months following your project, I will keep your design in an active archive should you lose or damage your files, or require followup work. After this period, I arhive your files on a secure external hard drive.

What if I don't like the designs that you created for me?

During the life cycle of a project, I check in at several points to ensure my clients are happy with the design. So if at any one of those check-in points you are not happy with the design direction please let me know.

Keep in mind that designers are paid for their time so changes in design direction means your cost go up and your project will take longer to complete.

If it’s a case of you simply changing your mind after the designs is already complete then I’d be happy do a redesign but you will be charged. However, I may lower your cost.

WEB DESIGN QUESTIONS

Do you work on html/php sites or redesign old websites (non-WordPress, html)?

I’m sorry but I do not edit or work with html sites as that is an extremely outdated web platform and not mobile friendly or search engine optimized.

However, I can redesign your html/php website. My process for redesigning old html/php websites is to essentially build a new site using a temporary domain, utilizing copy and images from your existing site.

I build the new site in WordPress using Godaddy as the hosting provider. Once your new site is approved, you contact your current hosting provider and have them release your domain name to be transferred. After your domain is transferred and pointing to the new site you contact your old hosting provider and cancel your account.

I already have a WordPress website that needs tweeked/redesigned, can you do that for me?

Yes, if your site is hosted by Bluehost, Network Solutions or Godaddy. These companies have Managed WordPress platforms which is what I work in. As long as you give me your hosting account information, I can do a complete redesign if you wish.

What if I don't like the website that you created for me?

You created my WordPress website a while back and now it's acting up, what can you do about this?

I’d be happy to look into any issues your website is having for a fee. Keep in mind that website updates, website maintenance/fixes are separate services and you will incur charges outside of initial website creation.

Do you offer Website Updates and Website Maintenance/fixes services.

Yes, if your site is a Managed WordPress site, Wix site or Shopify site.

What is Website Maintenance? Is this included with my initial Web Design Service?

Website Maintenance is defined as performing all the tasks necessary to keep a website up to date and in good, working order so that it works and shows up correctly with the latest web browsers and mobile devices. No, this is a separate service and charges will incur outside of initial website creation.

BILLING QUESTIONS

Do you require payment up front?

Yes, a 50% deposit on all projects is required before any work will begin. Rest of balance is due upon completion of project and before delivery of final files.

What forms of payments do you accept?

I accept and prefer secure online payments using your credit card, debit card, or
your bank account via PayPal.com. I also accept accept in-person cash payment and secure business checks.

Using PayPal.com you can make payments using your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express cards (you can use credit cards as a guest in PayPal).

What are your billing policies?

Contracted projects are typically billed in at least two installments for new clients: half payment upfront as a deposit and the remaining half upon completion of project and before delivery of final files.

This condition is waived for repeat clients, requiring only one payment upon project completion.

Hourly quotations are billed at the end of the hours quoted before delivery of final files.

General maintenance and other non-contracted work is billed at US $25 to $35 per hour, billed monthly.

However, other billing arrangements are possible upon agreement by both parties.

Invoices are submitted via e-mail as a Word, or PDF file, or (upon request) via postal mail.

Payment is due thirty (30) days from receipt of invoice for North American clients; international clients are given a grace period of thirty (30) days.

Late payments will be charged additional interest fees or penalties.

What is your refund policy?

Refund Policy for Branding, Print and Web Design Services

All work does not proceed to the final stage without the client’s final approval. These projects are typically custom projects. Each project is evaluated individually to estimate the total project cost, based upon the unique goals and features of the project.¬†Therefore, all branding, print and web design sales are final.

In the event of cancellation of project by the Client for reasons other than nonperformance by¬†Angela’s Design Services, ownership of all rights and the original assets shall be retained by Angela’s Design Services. A cancellation fee for work completed, based upon the contracted price and expenses already incurred shall be paid by the Client.

Is there a "Kill Project" or Cancelation fee?

Yes. A cancellation fee for work already completed will incur. Fee is based upon the contracted price and expenses already incurred and shall be paid by the Client.
